Still working on George T. Reynolds but as usual, became distracted as I was looking at his father George H Reynolds.

  • George H Reynolds marriage record has a bit of information on it.
    • Groom  George H. Reynolds
    • Bride:  Ann A. Anderson
    • Residence of Groom:  Exeter, N.H.
    • Residence of Bride:  Exeter, N.H.
    • Age of Groom:  42 years
    • Age of Bride:  23 years
    • Occupation of Groom:  Blacksmith
    • Birthplace of Groom:  Tony Valley, N. Y.   (not sure if Tony is correct, could be something else due to legibility)
    • Birthplace of Bride:  Charlottetown, N.S.
    • No. of Marriage of Groom: 2d
    • No. of Marriage of Bride: 1st
    • By Whom Married:  Elias Nason
    • Residence:  Exeter, N. H.
    • Official Station:  Clergyman
    • Date of Marriage:  Oct 29, 1861
    • Place: Exeter, N.H.
    • ----Page 2
    • Groom's Father:  Jacob Reynolds
    • Father's Occupation:  Tailor
    • Groom's Mother:  Mary Olds
    • Mother's Birthplace:  Gt Barrington, Mass.

    •
    • Clerk that transcribed the marriage record:  Fred S. Fellows
    • Clerk of: Exeter, N. H.
    • Date of transcript  Feb 16, 1906
  •
  • Further, found Jacob Reynolds and Mary Olds  as well as George, in

    • Genealogical and Family History of Southern New York and the Hudson River Valley, Vol. I, page 395.

    • This cleared things up since some trees on Ancestry listed his as being born in Saratoga Springs in 1817, death in 1903 Sandusky , Ohio with the parents being Daniel Benjamin Reynolds and Betsy Wilmot, his spouse Amelia.  I knew this to be incorrect due to his obituary.
    • The other item is his first wife is said to be Louisa Beebe.  She was born:   died:  14 May 1901.  Census records before   show George with  Louisa,  Census record after   show George with Ann.   The disconcerting thing is Louisa had not died, and yet her tombstone is engraved with the words :  LOUISA    WIFE OF   George H. REYNOLDS Died May 14, 1901.   If he had left her, why did they have that inscribed?   My guess is to emphasize she was a married woman.    Was there an actual divorce?  I read somewhere that sometimes people just left and remarried without getting a divorce.   Did his new family know there he had another family somewhere?  I am curious about that.  George did serve in the Civil War?   I have a lot to try to discover here.

  • Also, I am joining the Reynolds Family Association now that I know where our line of Reynolds come from.  I am curious to find out if my DNA results will confirm this.

  • This is not direct line, but a sidetrack.   Got a match on Oby Robirds.    I will fill in later, however, Oby Robirds is a sidetrack from my step great grandmother Jessie McClure who was my great grandfather Trueman F. Reynolds second wife.

  • The above is from GEDMATCH, not sure why all the children are hidden,  they are on Ancestry.
  • It lists an Unknown Union,  is this Oby's mother?  Oby was born in 1811, Nancy and John were married in ????, There are several dates on Ancestry. I need to check it out.  Nancy was born in 1798, she would have only been 13 when Oby was born.
  • Searched on Ancestry and have found John Osborn (Roberts) Roberds, but no mention of Oby, will have to search and see if somehow he just has missed the census records.

Hi,
I've decided to start this blog to keep track of my endeavors into genealogical research.
Mainly to recall my research and to identify why I have chosen certain paths.
Such as:
why did I decide to research a particular branch?   I do get sidetracked on interesting branches that are not in my direct line.
why I decide that two records refer to the same person even though there are discrepancies.

I want to add more media and links to people.

So this will not be a standard family tree, more like a supplement.
